Compreflex® Standard Thigh Compression Wrap: What You Need to Know

The Compreflex® Standard Thigh Compression Wrap is an adjustable, inelastic compression garment made by Sigvaris. It is designed to help manage swelling in the thigh caused by venous disease, lymphedema, or surgery. Unlike traditional compression stockings, this wrap can be adjusted as swelling changes, making it easier to use and more comfortable for many patients.

Who Is This Compression Wrap For?

The Compreflex Standard Thigh is commonly used for people with:

  • Chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), stages 1–2
  • Lymphedema
  • Post-surgical thigh swelling
  • Ongoing or fluctuating edema that needs frequent adjustment

It is especially helpful during active treatment phases, such as lymphedema decongestive therapy, when leg size can change from day to day.

How Much Compression Does It Provide?

This thigh wrap offers adjustable compression from 20 to 50 mmHg, allowing your healthcare provider to tailor compression to your needs. It can be set to:

  • 20–30 mmHg (mild–moderate)
  • 30–40 mmHg (moderate–firm)
  • 40–50 mmHg (firm)

Compression levels are set using Accutab®, a built-in guide system that helps ensure each strap is applied at the correct pressure. This makes it easier for both clinicians and patients to apply compression safely and consistently.

Design and Materials

The Compreflex Standard Thigh is made from medical-grade laminated foam, designed to be breathable, moisture-wicking, and durable for daily wear. The short-stretch (inelastic) material provides firm support while still allowing movement.

Material blend includes:

  • Polyamide
  • Polyurethane foam
  • Cotton
  • Neoprene
  • Elastane

This combination helps maintain effective compression while improving comfort and skin protection.

Key Features That Improve Comfort and Fit

Easy to Put On

  • A built-in stretch panel helps hold the garment in place before fastening
  • Roll-back straps make it easier to apply without struggling

Secure and Adjustable

  • Strong medical-grade Velcro® keeps straps flat and secure
  • Straps can be adjusted throughout the day if swelling changes

Added Support Accessories

The system includes:

  • One thigh compression wrap
  • Two soft, non-compressive cotton liners to protect the skin
  • A waist and hip attachment with a soft belt to prevent slipping
  • Accutab® guides for setting compression accurately

How the Compreflex Standard Thigh Is Applied

In general, application follows these steps:

  1. Make sure skin is clean and dry
  2. Apply one cotton liner with the stretch panel facing forward
  3. Pull the wrap up the thigh so it sits just below the buttock crease and above the knee
  4. Close straps gently at first, keeping them flat and even
  5. Use the Accutab® guides to set the prescribed compression level
  6. Attach the waist belt and hip panel to keep the garment from sliding down

Your nurse or therapist will show you how to apply it correctly and safely.

Sizing and Fit

The Compreflex Standard Thigh comes in multiple sizes and is available for either the left or right leg. No limb measurements are required at the time of fitting, and the waist belt can be trimmed if needed for comfort.

Why Many Patients Prefer This Option

Compared to traditional thigh-high compression stockings, this wrap offers:

  • Easier application and removal
  • Adjustable compression as swelling changes
  • No need for custom measurements
  • Better comfort during movement
  • Effective short-stretch compression for fluid management

Because of these benefits, it is often recommended during the intensive decongestive phase of lymphedema treatment and for patients who struggle with stockings.
