At TME Healthcare, we specialize in travel medical consultations designed specifically for international travelers. Our consultations provide up-to-date, evidence-based advice on the recommended and necessary vaccinations and medications for your journey. Additionally, we offer preventive services and prescriptions for travel-related vaccines and medications.
Please be aware that prescriptions for common medical conditions that may arise during your trip, such as strep throat, urinary tract infections, tick bites, or gum swelling, are not included in the travel consultation. Should you encounter any of these conditions while traveling, we advise seeking local medical assistance promptly.
What are the benefits of visiting a travel clinic instead of my family doctor?
Unlike most family doctors, we have specialized training and qualifications in travel medicine. We stay current on global outbreaks, regional guidelines, and recommended vaccines and medications tailored to your travel plans and medical history. Additionally, most family doctors do not offer this service.
What is the importance of a travel medical consultation?

Is there a minimum age requirement for a travel medical consultation?
There is no minimum age requirement for a travel medicine consultation. We cater to individuals of all ages, including pediatric travelers. Our experienced professionals tailor recommendations and advice to suit each traveler's unique needs and requirements, regardless of age.
Can you do a travel medical consultation for a group of travelers?
Yes, we can accommodate travel medical consultations for groups of up to 6 people per session. For larger groups, please contact us to discuss special arrangements.
When should I schedule a travel medical consultation before my trip?
You should book your travel medicine consultation 6-8 weeks before your trip to ensure there's enough time for recommended vaccinations.
Are the services available for clients outside of Ontario?
We currently offer our services exclusively for clients located and/or residing in Ontario.
Fees and Insurance Coverages
How much does travel medical services cost?
The cost varies depending on the services you require. Please visit our services page to view the fees for each service we provide.
Why is there a fee for a travel medicine consultation? Isn't this covered by my provincial health plan?
Travel medicine consultations are not covered by provincial health plans and must be paid for privately. However, many extended health benefits and insurance providers will cover all or part of the cost of the travel consultation.
Are travel medical services covered by insurance?
We do not directly deal with insurance or benefits providers. Each client is responsible for communicating with their provider to understand their coverage. Please note that insurers may limit reimbursement amounts due to various factors, such as overall dollar limits or specific vaccine limits. We recommend checking with the insurance provider to confirm eligibility for reimbursement. Upon receiving any service, we issue an official invoice that can be submitted to your insurance company for potential coverage.
Are there additional fees associated with travel medical services?
TME Healthcare does not charge injection fees or taxes. Consultation fees for follow-up visits to the same destination(s) are waived. However, there are fees for services such as Exemption Certificate, completing third-party documents, prescriptions, and replacement of lost Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificates. Duplicates of prescriptions or invoices incur a fee of $25.
What forms of payment do you accept?
For your safety and convenience, we only accept card payments or e-transfers, both in-store and online. We regret that we cannot accept cash payments in accordance with public health guidelines.
Vaccines and prescriptions
Do you provide prescriptions for vaccines?
Prescriptions for vaccines can be provided for a fee (details available on the service page). Prescription fees are waived for clients receiving travel vaccines at our clinic.
Can I bring my own vaccines to the clinic for administration?
Due to the importance of maintaining the cold chain for vaccine efficacy and safety, We only administers vaccines from their own cold chain. Vaccines brought in by patients cannot be administered for safety reasons.
Can I choose any pharmacy for filling my prescriptions?
You can choose any pharmacy for your prescriptions. We can send them directly to your preferred pharmacy for your convenience.
How are the prescriptions sent to the pharmacy?
We fax prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy for convenience.
What happens after the prescriptions are sent to the pharmacy?
Prior to visiting the pharmacy, please call to confirm receipt of the fax from TME Healthcare. Upon confirmation, you can obtain your vaccines and/or medications directly from the pharmacy.
